Yes. `A block of wood with patterns traced onto two of three sides (top, front, left) and cut on those lines with a bandsaw (or a zip-bit). Then the 'bone' gets rounded out on a belt-sander and it's done.
Repeat for all bones (some were sculpted and some were cast in resin), assemble at the joints, put in the nets, fill with the appropriate material, surface and detail, done.
Sorry to break the urban legend, but it's kind of due for retirement anyway.
Ah, I've heard about the infamous Sally doll. It's both an amazing piece of work and quite terrifying at the same time.
So what you're saying, it's not used for sexual purposes unlike all those myths say? That it's just your favorite creation you've lovingly crafted to be lifelike, almost alive? And you call yourself an artificer... That basically sounds like you're a mad scientist. Whether that makes it more or less worrying, I don't know. I will adjust my screaming accordingly.
Uh...um...uh.... AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!! Did somebody say this was a sex toy? Oh, and I came here from Knowyourmeme, somehow.
I am really wow'd by this. It took me a minute to adjust my eyes so to make sure I was seeing it properly and the first glance impression stands. Really freakin' cool! I like the way you made this - I know I would not have had the patience to do so. In any length of time period!
i thought it was an actual person in an outfit and was wondering how they did their head like that... scuse me while i clean up the debris from my head

Wow that's a really nice pose. Yah know, I really don't know how you got all of the fabric for her put together. I bet you paid someone or I hate to say it but, one of your parents >~<. I think she's very cute ^-^
I got advice from my mother on how to do her muscles, and she did teach me how to sew (about 27 years ago) but no, I'm the only one who has worked on her.

No.
No, sir, I do not.

It could be reproduced by making a cloth head-cover, padding the face where needed, and then adding fur to the adjusted form.
(I'm planning on making my own suit this way)

Do you have sex with it?
I pity you.
I was pretty terrified too when she went into a rant about how little effort and work I put into her tail.
Thank you for the comment though. (really!)
Looks like she crawled there herself and plopped down. Really adorable.
I'm glad you like it.
